All the News from This Morning's Nintendo Direct

A new Nintendo Direct went down this morning, and as always, there were plenty of exciting announcements. Read on for a recap of everything that was revealed.

New Fire Emblem

Another entry in the series is coming from Intelligent Systems, the creators of Fire Emblem Awakening. It will be released on the 3DS, and while not much else is known right now, Nintendo is saying that it will play much differently from the last one.

Here is the first teaser for it:

F2P Pokemon Puzzler

Nintendo will be releasing a free-to-play Pokemon puzzle game on the 3DS in February. It's called Pokemon Shuffle, and will likely have microtransaction support of some kind.

Here's what it looks like:

Wii Games Coming to the Wii U eShop

Wii games are finally coming to the Wii U eShop. The first game to be released will be Super Mario Galaxy 2, and it's already available today.

Later this month Punch-Out!! will arrive on January 22, with the Metroid Prime Trilogy arriving on January 29. Both games will be available for $9.99 during their first week of release, before getting bumped up to $19.99.

Wii games that supported the Classic Controller will be playable with the Wii U GamePad.

Mario Party 10

Suprise, surprise, there's a new Mario Party in the works. The 10th installment is coming tot he Wii U on March 20.

Amiibo, Amiibo Everywhere

Another wave of Smash Bros. Amiibo figures are coming (11 in total) in February.

Following that will be a another line of the figures including Robin and Lucina from Fire Emblem, Pac-Man, Wario, Ness from Earthbound, and Charizard from Pokemon. This set will be out sometime in the spring.

Then on March 20, a Super Mario. set will be released and will include Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, Bowser, and Toad. A bunch of those figures have already been released for Super Smash Bros., so these versions will look a little different if you really want to collect 'em all.

The Super Mario set will be out to coincide with the release of Mario Party 10, with Toad also working with Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. On the Mario Party side of things, there will be a new game mode called "Amiibo Party" which will customize the gameboard and give you character-specific abilities based on which Amiibo you're using.

These nine characters will be compatible with Mario Party 10 (although keep in mind that Amiibo can only store data for one game at a time): Mario, Luigi, Toad, Peach, Bowser, Rosalina, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, and Wario.

New 3DS Release Date

The New 3DS is out on February 13, and will only come in one size, XL. The handheld will cost $200, and will be available in red and black and launch. Strangely though, it won't come with an AC adapter, so you'll need your old 3DS one.

Majora's Mask 3DS

A special edition, Majora's Mask-themed New 3DS XL will be released to coincide with Majora's Mask 3D on February 13. It looks pretty awesome.

Hyrule Warriors DLC

Tingle is coming to Hyrule Warriors, because... well, just because. He'll get to use a giant bag of money as a weapon, and in case that's too weird for you, Young Link will also be included in the DLC.

Three more mystery costumes will also be features in the add-on.

Wii U/3DS Cross-Buy

Nintendo is dipping its toes into a cross-buy feature with Mario vs. Donkey Kong Tipping Stars. If you purchase a copy on the Wii U, you will also get a code for the 3DS version and vice versa.

Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. Release Date

Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. will be out on the 3DS on March 13. It will have Abraham Lincoln in it.

Nintendo also confirmed that the Fire Emblem Amiibos for Smash Bros. will work in this game as well.

Xenoblade is Coming to North America

The New 3DS exclusive remake of Xenoblade Chronicles will in fact be coming to North America. Expect it out sometime in April.

More Rhythm Heaven (In Japan)

A new Rhythm Heaven game is out for the 3DS this summer, but only in Japan. It will feature over a hundred rhythm games, including over 30 new ones.
